GENERAL MANAGER
River Cottage Canteen & Local Produce Store - Axminster
General Manager required for this high profile business based in Axminster, Devon. Situated in the centre of Axminster the Canteen & Store really is a hub of this thriving Devon town.
The site boasts a restaurant with 80 covers trading up to 5 nights a week and a busy Local Produce Store.
River Cottage is a fast growing business with plans for expansion into a number of units in 2010. This is a real opportunity for a highly capable, ambitious entrepreneurial individual to establish themselves within a challenging role.
Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a GM role within a successful restaurant business. Experience in a seasonal business would be an advantage. You would have managed a team of over 30-40 employees including a large kitchen team. Some retail experience would be also be a benefit but not essential. You would need to live locally or plan to relocate to the area.
A proven track record of achieving clear targets, maintaining standards, succession planning, budget management, sales planning and forward planning to achieve and maintain like for like growth, would be seen a compulsory requirement; as is also a clear understanding of the River Cottage ethos.
The Canteen in Axminster is seen as a Flagship venue for River Cottage and as well as having a regular local trade it has massive appeal to destination diners, tourists & visitors to River Cottage HQ (Park Farm).
Salary expectations should be circa £25-30k plus a generous uncapped bonus scheme.
